Environmental value chain management of laundry detergents in the use phase

Environmental value chain management is concerned with the environmental aspects of products and services along the whole value chain, from raw material and energy acquisition to waste management. The use phase in the value chain remains an understudied subject, despite considerable consumption-related environmental impacts. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the use phase of laundry detergents in households. Our empirical data consist of interviews in the laundry rooms of 299 Finnish households. A model for designing callable bonds and its solution using tabu search

Abstract We formulate the problem of designing callable bonds as a non-linear, global, optimization problem. The data of the model are obtained from simulations of holding-period returns of a given bond design, which are used to compute a certainty equivalent return, viz., some target assets. The design specifications of the callable bond are then adjusted so that the certainty equivalent return is maximized. The resulting problem is multi-modal, and a tabu search procedure, implemented on a distributed network of workstations, is used to optimize the bond design. When a new technological product launching fails: A multi-method approach of facial recognition and E-WOM sentiment analysis

Abstract The dual aim of this research is, firstly, to analyze the physiological and unconscious emotional response of consumers to a new technological product and, secondly, link this emotional response to consumer conscious verbal reports of positive and negative product perceptions. An inductive learning perspective on automated generation of feature models from given product specifications

For explicit representation of commonality and variability of a product line, a feature model is mostly used. An open question is how a feature model can be inductively learned in an automated way from a limited number of given product specifications in terms of features.We propose to address this problem through machine learning, more precisely inductive generalization from examples. However, no counter-examples are assumed to exist. Basically, a feature model needs to be complete with respect to all the given example specifications. First results indicate the feasibility of this approach, even for generating hierarchies, but many open challenges remain.
